My personal journey has been one of youth sports, love of exercise and movement, and healing. I have experienced the ups and downs of injuries, surgeries, rehabilitation, as well as recovering from disordered eating and exercise. This, along with my experience and expertise working with people of all ages, sizes, abilities, and chronic pain sufferers, makes me a creative, compassionate, non judgmental partner.
When I'm not helping clients or learning more about my work, I enjoy walking/hiking, biking, yoga, and resistance training. I also like to spend my time reading, baking, and crafting. Spending time with my family and friends, volunteering with a variety of organizations, and caring for my two rescue dogs fills my cup and brings me joy. Combining these activities with the people I love adds extra enjoyment!
As a weight inclusive and weight neutral trainer and teacher, my mission is to meet you where you are and support your today body. We will work together to meet your goals related to exercise, fitness, and overall well being.
My philosophy is that movement is for everybody and every body, regardless of shape, size, age, abilities, or disabilities. I want to empower you to embrace a positive relationship to your body and to movement. I value a holistic approach to pursuing habits that contribute to overall health without focusing on attempting to control or manipulate our bodies. Exercise should not be a punishment; we focus on how movement feels over how it can make you look. Discovering ways to move that meet your current needs is integral to my practice, and I collaborate with healthcare professionals when appropriate. Every session will be accessible and safe, and we will have fun along the way!
As a certified trainer and yoga teacher, I offer compassionate, weight neutral services in a private studio in the Rockville/Potomac area. I can help you improve strength, endurance, flexibility and stability, rehabilitate from injury or chronic pain, and explore the mind body connection in all activities.
One on one personal training sessions will take you through a full hour of movement. We will collaborate to set goals, and I will teach you safe and effective exercises. Online sessions are available.
Through a full hour of yoga practice, we will connect breath with movement and end with a relaxing savasana. Yoga philosophy will be woven throughout the class in an accessible way. Online sessions available.
Fitness training or yoga for up to four individuals. Ideally suited for partners or groups whose goals and/or needs are similar.
This is a very hands on session, using myofascial release tools and assisted stretching to improve mobility, range of motion, and flexibility.
Marnee is a terrific trainer! She has extensive knowledge about how the body works and easily adapts on the spot, particular exercises to meet me where I am on any particular day.
She is the farthest from a drill-sergeant type of trainer, who pushes you beyond what your body can handle simply to reach a “hard body” result.
